The whole festival still has an intimate club-like atmosphere. Traditional folk bands, a capella groups, singer-songwriters, guitar wizards, gypsy fiddlers, raging blues combos, a drop of the Irish, a drop of the Scottish, Bluegrass, jug, swing, Balkan, Italian and more.

All weekend the site is alive with the sounds of acoustic guitars, dobros, mandolins, fiddles, accordions, concertinas, bouzoukis, banjos, pianos, drums, percussion, flutes, pipes, whistles and voices. Every year there is a fresh mixture of talented local Blue Mountains acts amongst the visiting talent.

Food and craft stalls, the Denis Kevans poets’ breakfast, and children’s entertainment fill out the on-site atmosphere. Within walking distance of the music are some of the wonders of the world heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park, including the Three Sisters and the Jamaison Valley. A short drive away are the Megalong and Grose valleys, and a little further out are the historic Hartley vale and the stunning Jenolan Caves. The festival precinct is a short stroll from Katoomba railway station and the buzzing strip of cafes, restaurants, art and craft galleries and shops that lead you down to the site
